The Rt. Rev. David Bowman
Interim Dean and President

The Rt. Rev. David C. Bowman, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Western New York, is the Interim Dean and President of Seabury. He began his duties on September 1, 2004 and will continue until Gary Hall, Seabury's ninth Dean and President assumes the office early in 2005.

Bishop Bowman is a graduate of Ohio University and Virginia Theological Seminary. He served parishes in North Grafton, MA, and in Ohio at Euclid, Youngstown, Painesville and Toledo before being elected as Bishop Coadjutor in 1986. He served as bishop from 1987 until he retired in 1999.

Bowman has had previous experience as an interim. He served as Interim Dean at Trinity Cathedral, Cleveland (following Trinity Dean William Persell's departure to become Bishop of Chicago), Assisting Bishop of Central New York and Assistant Bishop of Ohio, all following his retirement as Bishop of Western New York.

Dean’s Message

I look forward to serving as Interim Dean, for the future leadership of our Church is so dependent upon the work of our seminaries. The Board of Trustees, faculty and staff of Seabury are most impressive, and my challenge will be to provide stable leadership during this Interim period.
