EVANSTON, October 4, 2011— Bexley Hall in Columbus, Ohio and Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, two theological schools affiliated with the Episcopal Church, are jointly seeking a president.

During the past four years, the two schools have created a partnership that includes coordinating programs and consolidating some administrative functions. In early 2011, they appointed Dr. Robert Bottoms, formerly president of DePauw University, as interim joint president. Dr. Bottoms will serve until his successor is named.

“Bexley and Seabury are forming an innovative, flexible theological center in the Midwest,” said the Rt. Rev. W. Michie Klusmeyer, bishop of West Virginia, co-chair of the Bexley board of trustees and co-chair of the search committee. “We seek a president who will advance our goals of educating clergy and laypeople to lead a rapidly changing church, realizing efficiencies from streamlining operations, and preserving our distinctive traditions and characters.”

Together, Seabury and Bexley offer the full spectrum of graduate level theological education and enrichment. Bexley offers the Master of Divinity degree in conjunction with Trinity Lutheran Seminary, while Seabury offers Doctor of Ministry degrees in partnership with the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and the Association of Chicago Theological Schools as well as a wide array of non-degree programs for church leaders. Both schools offer Anglican studies programs and seek to partner with diocese to provide local training for ministry.

“The face of theological education is changing,” said the Rev. Dr. Gwynne Wright, chair of the Seabury board of trustees and co-chair of the search committee. “The president we seek will have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to manage change and think creatively. We invite applications from non-traditional applicants as well as people with experience in academic theology.”

The search committee will accept nominations and applications through November 11. To learn more, please visit www.bexley.edu or www.seabury.edu.
