The Streak Ends

The Seabury Saints lost their first game today, 9-6. It was a hard-fought game. The Saints came back to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th only to have Simpson Street roar back with 3 runs in the top of the 7th.

Player of the game: Shana

Shana made two great plays, throwing both runners out at first. Also, her attitude at the end of the game captured the Saints turnaround season. After the game, Shana was visibly upset for making the last out of the game. She did nothing wrong. There was no way that she could have hit a three-run homerun to tie the game...since nobody was on base. She was thrown out on a good play by the third baseperson. She was upset because she wanted to get on base to help us win. Her attitude made me smile, because it showed me that the Saints have learned how to think like winners. We expect to win. We expect to get that clutch hit. We are upset when we lose. For any of you who have followed Saints softball, you know that this is no small miracle. We won 4 times more games this season than in all our other seasons combined. Even if we don't go far in the playoffs, 2006 is, in my book, a huge success!

Oh...but, don't count us out in the playoffs. That loss only motivated us more. We are hungry to get back to our winning ways.
