I saw Knocked Up last night at the Century. Michelle and I found it to be heart-warming. There were many elements that reminded me of movies like Something About Mary or The 40-Year Old Virgin (for example, the crass guy-centered humor, over exposure of certain body parts, etc.). Still, I found myself laughing out loud many times. The end was touching. The movie exploits the formula found in many present sitcoms—an over-weight or nerdy funny guy finds himself in relationship with a beautiful girl who is out of his league. In fact, the movie makes a not-so-subtle reference to Everybody Loves Raymond, claiming that all of life is like the popular show, albeit not quite as funny. The humor and point of view was very guy-centered, although Michelle was laughing pretty hard too. You could probably wait for this one to come out on DVD. It would be well worth the rental.
