I finished the essay. Yay! Now I have to work on three other short essays, but I feel back on track.
Dell decided to take back my laptop, after having to replace two LCDs and a video card. The latest problem had to do with the plastic casing in which the monitor sits. It turns out that the "technician" was a little too rough and bent the case so that it is now slightly convex. This bend creates more pressure on the lower edges of the screen, exactly where I was getting the gray blotches. I had to get a little upset with the Dell rep., before he eventually received the OK from his supervisor to send me a new machine. Hopefully, I will have better luck with this next one.
Posted by Frank Yamada at May 7, 2007 07:20 PMYou know, Macs are a whole lot sturdier, as a rule-- and when they do have issues, their reps have been quite pleasant without requiring any upset at all.
I'm just sayin'...
