Shoes

Another Utne article talked about shoes. Some say that it is healthy to take shoes off at the door because you don’t track things into the house. Other people keep them on. For me while growing up, if it had been to the barnyard, it came off before the door, but other shoes were fine. Do you take your shoes off at the door? Are you offended when people ask you to?

I learned on Maundy Thursday that there are many issues with foot washing. (Some people do it, other people refuse, some have ambiguous feelings.)

Are the two issues related?

Fear of foot washing has almost nothing to do with symbolism and everything to do with dirty feet. My feet, for example, are afflicted with toenail fungus, and so I try to limit the number of people who have to see, much less touch, them.

Do I take my shoes off at the door? It depends on if I have new carpet. And no, I'm not offended if someone asks me to take off my shoes.
Not only does it help their carpet, I rather like the feeling of running around in my stocking feet.
Used to do it all the time at work; hence the gorilla slippers.

EMMSU, try ti tree oil to treat the fungus. It may take quite a while, but it seems to help.

Ref, those gorilla slippers are the best!
