The Seabury institute has entered into a two-year consulting relationship with the Diocese of Minnesota. Graduates of the congregational studies program will serve as consultants to five lab congregations selected for their diversity. Consultants, John Adler, M.Div. ’89 & D.Min. ’99; Bob Hansel, D.Min.’99; Al Johnson, M.Div. ’79 & D.Min. ’00; Bonnie Perry, D.Min.’98; Meredith Woods Potter, M.Div. ’95 & D.Min. ’00; and Alvaro Araica, M.Div. ’95 will be offering their experience and expertise in the areas of: congregational size transitions, new church plants, effective community outreach, healthy models of church leadership, new models for church community, and multicultural ministry.
Neysa Ellgren and Michael Hanley (SWTS M.Div. ’81), two current students in Seabury’s June D.Min. program, are co-chairs of the congregational development task force in Minnesota. During their Evanston residency last summer they invited John Dally, Executive Director of the Seabury Institute, to spend a day consulting with leaders in their Diocese. At that time Bp. James Jelinik committed the diocese to go forward with this groundbreaking program to assist the diocese and congregations in leading for a missional future.
If your parish, diocese or judicatory is interested in engaging the services of a leading practitioner of congregational development to serve as a consultant, please be in touch with Peggy Pearson, 1-800-275-8235, ext. 36 or by email: peggy.pearson@seabury.edu for more information.
