Financial Aid

Seabury is committed to assisting full-time degree students who are eligible for need-based financial aid to defray or defer those costs of their Seabury education that they are unable to pay themselves while in attendance. Financial aid to Seabury students may be provided by a combination of sources, including:

Prospective students are urged to develop a realistic budget to cover their costs of attendance, taking into account their individual circumstances, the various resources that are available to them, and their anticipated income levels after their ordination or engagement in professional lay ministry.

Seabury Aid: Full-time degree students who demonstrate financial need are eligible for a direct write-down of a portion (typically not exceeding 25%) of their tuition charges.

Scholarships: Competitive scholarships are available from a wide variety of sources. Please contact the Coordinator of Seminary Services for information about scholarship opportunities, award criteria and application procedures, or visit the Episcopal Church Office of Ministry Development website. You may also visit the Episcopal Church Office of Ministry Development website to or click here to download the ECUSA's Sources of Financial Assistance booklet.

Financial assistance is not available through the DMin program, but many of our participants receive support from their parishes, dioceses or conferences as well as through grants available for clergy continuing education. Consult your denomination's ministry development office to see what's available to you.

Loan Information

Federal Student Loans: Seabury participates in the Federal Student Aid loan program. Eligible students may access up to $18,500 per year in a combination of subsidized and un-subsidized student loans, based on their costs of attendance, personal resources, and the other sources of assistance that are available to them. We urge our students to avoid incurring more debt than is absolutely necessary for them to complete their seminary educations. An application, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please use the Federal code G01754 to have a report sent to the seminary. Please refer to Applying for Financial Aid for additional information.

Seabury Aid, most scholarships and Federal Student Aid are predicated upon a demonstration of financial need. Please refer to "Applying for Financial Aid" for an explanation of the process by which need is determined.
