About Seabury

We are dedicated to learning in the service of God's mission. The vision of Christ's love transforming our world underlies all that we do as we equip women and men to be effective agents of pastoral care, love and justice, and the joyous spreading of God's reign.
The Church faces many challenges in the 21st century and needs faithful, imaginative clergy and lay leaders to face into those challenges. Our primary task at Seabury is preparing clergy as caring pastors, visionary leaders and congregation al developers.
We seek to instill qualities of leadership, imagination, and creativity which will empower them to help their congregations respond faithfully to the challenges that confront them and to be responsive to the needs of the world.
We embrace scripture, tradition, and reason as we address issues-bringing to bear disciplines such as theology, ethics, historical context, remaining grounded in the wisdom of the living Word, spiritual and intellectual witnesses from all ages and the Spirit at work in our midst.
Debates and disputes are inevitable in the Church. Ultimately, clarity and resolution emerge as a result of dialogue happening in places like Seabury.
Seabury stands in the crossroads of conversation between various disciplines and points of view. Our understanding of the Church is comprehensive as it flows from the comprehensive love of God-all have a space and a voice at the table, for it is God's table not our own.
